At 9 months old, my baby (who is no longer on the charts) weighs 12 lb 2 oz. She's in the 1st percentile for height at 25 inches tall, and her head dropped from the 23rd to 6th percentile. Because she weighed 12 lb 4 oz at her 6 month appointment, the doctor and I are a little concerned. The doctor says she's not terribly worried, because she thinks it is mostly genetics, but we need to see if we can get her to grow. We've given up hope on her taking formula, but I am now offering her anything she is interested in eating or drinking. She likes peaches, pears, butternut squash, and carrots. (She likes bananas and applesauce too, but they don't help her constipation). Even when it's mixed with her favorite foods, she refuses to eat any cereals. She grabs crackers and other finger foods out of my hand, so I've started giving them to her more often. The doctor said I can give her cows milk as long as I continue breastfeeding (so that by the time she's a year old she will hopefully accept a cup of milk). She also suggested I give her more table foods, and any grains she'll accept (including ones with added sugar). I'll take her back to the doctor in a month to see if she is growing. Not sure what we'll do if she isn't.
Her size was the only concern at her 9 month check up. She isn't crawling yet, but is scooting when she has tummy time (which she still despises) and when she sits. She still prefers me, but will go to anyone who gives her attention as long as she can't see or hear me. She's extremely social and loves large groups of people. She doesn't sit still, and prefers standing to sitting. She sleeps for about 5 hours at night (at her 6 month appointment the doctor said I should let her cry at night, but when I talked to her yesterday we agreed I should get up to feed her). She requires constant attention, and hates to be alone. She has a contagious smile, and the cutest laugh. Her older siblings continue to smother her with love.

Oh she is so cute. I can tell you are worried give me a call if you want to talk. She sure is a cute little thing. In the pictures she looks fine, I can't wait to meet her
ReplyDeleteI can't believe she is already 9 months old! She is adorable. You will have to disappear when I visit so she will like me.
