Pardon my random thoughts...

I've been trying to write a recap every month this year.  I've been dreading writing about March.  Why?  Because for most of March, one nasty little word has been consuming my thoughts:  CANCER.  Alisa's melanoma is back, my grandma has ovarian cancer, and this week, the father of one of my Young Women died of prostate cancer... and another father is fighting it.  I'd love to write about how the gospel makes this easy, how I know that no matter what happens, everything will be OK.  I do know everything will be OK.  I know that trials make us stronger.  I know that I can be with my family forever.  But watching loved ones suffer still sucks.

Other than cancer, March hasn't been too bad.  I love the sporadic Spring weather.  I know some people hate it, but I love it.  I love playing tag in T-shirts one day, and building snowmen the next.  I think the snow helps me appreciate the warms days, and the warm days motivate me to play in the snow... you never know what the next day will bring.  Come April, I'll be ready for winter to be over.  For now, I'm enjoying the sporadic weather that Spring brings.  I haven't done many fun activities with the kids lately, but I think that's because we've been spending so much time outside.

A few random pictures from March:

Dakota made this birthday card or his friend all by himself.  It was the first (and last) time I saw him sound something out  to write it.  (It says "Cameron I love you"  how cute is that!?)

We made green egg cupcakes and drank Pink Ink Yink Drink for Dr. Seuss Day.

I discovered princesshairstyles.com
Companies should not be aloud to put pictures of cookies on their milk jugs.  My kids demand cookies every time we have milk.  As you can tell from Audrey's face, sometimes I give in.
We invited Adam's brothers and their families over to celebrate Pi Day.  James (or someone in their family) got sick, so just Peter's family came.  I made pizza and pecan pie, and Candice made apple pie.  It was a low key Pi Day, but fun to be with family.  I made chicken pot pie for dinner on the "real" pie day.
When I put my hands around Bridget's waist my fingers touch on both sides.  She's even smaller than Dakota was at her age.  Here she is at 8 months old wearing a newborn onsie.  According the the AAP's new guidelines all 3 of my children should be in rear facing carseats.
We keep this backpack in the house now.  I use it daily while I make dinner and do other things around the house.  Sometimes she's lucky enough to ride in it outside.  Maybe if I didn't hold her all day she'd learn to crawl?

  1. Leanna thanks for not being a complainer. The weather is the main topic lately, and everyone is complaining. I’ve fallen into the idea I deserve perfect park weather right now. Thanks for appreciating all of it. Another reason I look up to you.
Wow! I am trying not to be so jealous of Audrey’s hair. It looks awesome! You did such a good job.
Your kids are sooo cute. You look great too. Love the pic of you and Bridget.

  2. Apparently I am behind and just now saw all of these fun posts. I for one believe cookies SHOULD always go with milk :) Of course not for my kid...just me.

i love all of your confrence ideas. especially the 72 hour update! what a clever idea to keep on top of your 72 hour kits. i love it and just might make it a trend in my house.

hope all is well. we better have at least one play date this summer!

  3. Nice Pi. Good to know that the northern branch celebrated in style. If you ever want to get rid of some of those cookies so the kids don't eat them, you know it is lambing season...

  4. I am sorry for your family and yw leaders. That is tough.
The chicken pot "pi" looks awesome. I am not a doer of hair. For me or my girls. I (and Tyler) wish I could care more but I just don't.
And you went to a fun party in March too! :)
