Happy Homemade!

This year for Christmas I made some doll beds.  My aunt asked me to make one for my cousin's daughter, and her friend wanted 2 for her kids.  Then my nieces got wind of the project, and (because I happened to have my brother for Christmas this year) I made one for them too.  It was a fun little project, perfect in size. I drew the plans in less than 10 minutes, spent less than $20 on wood for 4 beds, and finished them without neglecting my family too much.  The simple bed has rekindled my love for woodworking, and inspired me to make more small projects.  The best part about making beds for others (besides the joy of service, of course) was the exchange of services.  My aunt made the bedding for my nieces bed, and her friend made skirts and matching hairpieces for my nieces and Audrey.  I definitely got the good end of the deal!
A bed... not much to look at here.

A bed with bedding Vicki made... much better!

The skirt (and if you look closely a fabric flower) Vicki's friend made.
Complete with non-matching striped tights, and cowboy boots.
(Please tell me I'm not the only one that lets my 2-year-old dress herself, and wear such coordinating outfits to church!)

  1. I think she looks adroable. You would be so proud of us. while it was tempting to buy a $300 unfinshed fireplace mantel online, LOL Lol... Scott spent all day at the Riddles' shop and made one instead for Christmas ya it cost a whole whopping $10 and a whole day of planning and cutting etc. So worth it. I can't believe how much they mark up woodwork, it is insane. you should sell those beds I am sure they would go for $50 a piece. Miss you when you come to Cedar come over.
